The Great Flood of the Flint River

In the summer of 1986, the Flint River rose beyond its banks in Clio, Michigan. Torrential rain transformed quiet streets into rushing waterways. Amid the chaos, a young boy named Adam made a decision that would define his legacy.

Seeing his sister trapped by the rising waters, Adam fought through the flood to reach her. He carried her to safety — but as he stepped through the swirling current, a monstrous catfish struck.

In a flash of teeth and river water, the fish bit off half of Adam’s toe. Though injured, Adam never faltered. His sister was saved.

Bravery. Sacrifice. Halftoberfest.
